vivo X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max Hands-on Review

The vivo X500 series brings together three flagship smartphones designed to compete at the highest end of the Android market. The lineup includes the vivo X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, with each model offering a different balance between performance, cameras, battery capacity and premium features.

After spending some time with the three phones, it is clear that vivo is focusing heavily on photography, display quality and flagship-level performance across the range.

Design and Build Quality

At first glance, the three X500 models share a similar design language, but the Pro and Pro Max versions feel more premium in the hand.

The phones feature slim bezels around their large displays and a refined rear camera module that immediately signals their focus on photography. The curved edges and carefully balanced weight make the devices comfortable to hold despite their large screens.

The X500 Pro Max is the largest member of the family and is aimed at users who prefer a big-screen smartphone with the maximum available hardware.

The standard X500 is slightly more compact and easier to handle, while the X500 Pro sits between the two in terms of size and features.

Display

All three phones feature high-quality AMOLED displays with high refresh rates, offering smooth animations, responsive touch controls and excellent contrast.

Scrolling through websites and social media feels fluid, while HDR content benefits from the strong contrast and vivid colours offered by the AMOLED panels.

The Pro Max takes the experience further with its larger display, making it particularly attractive for watching movies, playing games and editing photos.

Brightness is also an important part of the experience. Outdoor visibility is strong, although actual performance can vary depending on the lighting conditions and display settings.

Performance

Performance is another major focus of the X500 family.

The three models are built around flagship-class hardware, providing enough power for demanding applications, multitasking and modern Android games.

During our hands-on time, applications opened quickly and switching between multiple apps felt smooth. Games also benefited from the high-refresh-rate displays and powerful processors.

The Pro Max is particularly suited to users who want sustained performance for gaming, video editing and other demanding workloads.

vivo also places significant emphasis on thermal management. This is important because flagship processors can generate considerable heat during extended gaming sessions or intensive camera processing.

Camera Experience

Photography is arguably the biggest selling point of the X500 series.
