At just 6mm thick and 98g, the power bank is remarkably compact for a 5,000mAh-class battery. It is designed to attach to compatible smartphones magnetically, making it possible to charge a phone without carrying a bulky power bank and cable combination.
Ultra-thin design
The biggest attraction of the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W is its size. Measuring 98.5 × 71.5 × 6mm, it has a card-like form factor that adds very little thickness to a smartphone.
The aluminum exterior gives the accessory a premium appearance, while its lightweight construction makes it comfortable to carry in a pocket or small bag. Xiaomi offers the power bank in Radiant Orange, Glacier Silver and Graphite Black.
A magnetic ring on the charging side helps keep the power bank aligned with compatible phones. In testing, the magnetic connection was reported to be secure when used with compatible phones and magnetic cases.
5,000mAh battery
Xiaomi lists the battery’s typical capacity at 5,000mAh, although its rated capacity at 5V is 3,000mAh. The battery has a typical energy rating of 18.95Wh.
This distinction is important because the advertised 5,000mAh figure does not mean a connected smartphone will receive the equivalent of 5,000mAh. Energy is lost during voltage conversion and wireless charging, meaning the usable output is lower.

Wireless charging

For faster charging, the Xiaomi UltraThin includes a USB-C port supporting up to 22.5W output. This makes wired charging considerably more useful when you need to replenish a phone quickly.
The USB-C port can also be used alongside wireless charging, although simultaneous output is limited to 7.5W through USB-C and 5W wirelessly.
Real-world performance
The biggest strength of the UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank is convenience rather than raw charging performance.
When used with compatible Xiaomi phones that support the higher wireless output, the accessory can provide a practical cable-free charging experience. With iPhones and some Android devices, however, wireless charging can be significantly slower.
The USB-C connection delivers much better performance. Testing with the Pixel 11 Pro, for example, saw the phone reach 23% after 15 minutes and 61% before the power bank was depleted.

The main compromise is charging speed. The advertised 15W wireless performance is not universally available, and users with iPhones or many Android smartphones may experience considerably slower wireless charging.
